UW-Madison Police Investigating Graphic Anti-ICE Sticker
“UW-Madison condemns violence of any kind," said a university spokesman
The University of Wisconsin–Madison Police Department is investigating a violent anti-ICE sticker found in the Mosse Humanities Building.
The sticker depicted a person wearing an ICE vest with a gunshot wound to the head. The image was accompanied by text in a thought bubble made of blood from the wound. The bubble read “speak their language,” and beneath the drawing was the phrase “you can’t vote away fascism.”
The image was first shared by the Wisconsin College Republicans on X. WICRs chairman Nick Jacobs told Fox News, “It’s almost celebrated among students to write threatening things about College Republicans, about ICE agents, about Republicans.” He said that violent rhetoric has appeared across the Universities of Wisconsin since the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk on September 10. Shortly after Kirk was assassinated, chalkings appeared near the UW-Madison campus celebrating his death.
University spokesman John Lucas told The Madison Federalist that the sticker was removed on Thursday and that UWPD is investigating the incident. He continued, “UW-Madison condemns violence of any kind.”
Marc Lovicott, the Executive Director of Communications for the UW–Madison Police Department, said, “A report regarding the sticker was made to us yesterday by a community member, and UWPD is investigating it as a graffiti incident.”
Both Republican gubernatorial candidates condemned the sticker. Rep. Tom Tiffany wrote on X, “UW-Madison cannot keep quiet and pretend this is normal. When over 99% of professors’ political donations at UW go to Democrats, you end up with results like this.” Washington County Executive Josh Schoemann said, “I’m not at all surprised that this horrific sentiment is emboldened on the UW-Madison campus. This type of violent extremism makes conservative students scared for their safety and degrades the reputation of our largest university.”
